This box is yet another made from reclaimed redwood planks. The redwood makes up the chocolate layers of this cake, and birch veneer plywood makes up the cream frosting in between. The layers of wood were cut to size, alternated and glued to form a stack. Once dry, the stack was cut in a cake wedge shape, with a portion of the interior plug serving as the eventual box bottom. Another portion of the plug became the under-lid to hold the box lid in place. The exterior portions of the glued up stack, rather than being discarded after being cut away to form the cake box, became the two bonus cake wedges and come with three candles made from poplar dowels and finished with acrylic paints. The entire layer cake suite is finished in a natural clear shellac. This box measures 6 1/2” long x 6” wide x 3 1/2” tall. The bonus cake wedges measure 4” long x 2” wide x 3 1/2” tall.
